Spending a lot of my time writing, makes me an avid fan of Wordsmyth - not just because it is a dictionary and thesaurus, but because the site is designed to provide a huge range of information around a given word. Search results show pronounciation, part of speech, multiple definitions and more often than not similar words, synonyms and antonyms as well as a list of nearby words as they appear in the dictionary.

What I enjoy most about Wordsmyth is the ability to start off at a word you don't really want to use and explore the results until you find exactly what you are after. It's a genuinely useful resource for improving your writing and vocabulary.

I should also point out that the dictionary is comprehensive - it's not often you search for a word they don't have. You can also search using regular expressions to find all words matching certain patterns, which is surprisingly useful in certain situations.

In addition, the site also offers puzzles and a quiz maker for those of you interested in exercising your brain, or the brains of others.

This is one of the few sites I use on a regular basis - highly recommended.
